About Operation Shoebox
Founded in 2006, Operation Shoebox collects boxes filled with Christmas goodies for kids in underprivileged communities.
We collected and distributed over 1600 boxes of joy to 22 charities across Cape Town in October and November 2008.
Kids range from newborn to 18 years of age. Be a part of it this year!
Here’s what you need to do:

- Select a child or children to sponsor.
- Update the spreadsheet with your contact details.
- Get a shoe box. Fill it up with goodies! Wrap it in bright festive paper, label the box CLEARLY with the name, surname, age, gender and name of the charity from which the child comes, add a R5 coin [towards distribution costs, if you can] and drop it off!

Filler ideas, in order of preference:
- Clothing. New, not second hand please!
- Toiletries, think the basics.
- Books, educational and story books.
- Stationery, but please no GLUE!
- Soft toys, coloring in books, crayons, water paints, etc.
- Marbles, dinky cars, dolls and teddies welcome!
- Nappies, baby gro’s and such for the littlies welcome!
- Please do include some treats, such as a packet of crisps, some sweets, a fruit juice if you can.
- Please make sure the contents are age appropriate and please DO NOT include toy guns, toy weapons of any kind, glue or bubble gum!
- Average spend per box – should not exceed R200 please.
If you cannot afford to make up a whole box, that’s no problem either, we’re happy to mix and match – whatever you can contribute is welcome and will certainly be used.
